Our goal is to have every student graduate from St. Anne’s having taken and passed both the Algebra 1 and the Living Environment Regents curricula and assessments.
They will be solidly prepared to take and pass the Regents assessment in both courses. Regardless of whether or not the high school they may attend teaches to or requires Regents exams, our goal is to ensure them greater access to the more rigorous math and science curricula available in high school, i.e. Advanced Placement courses.
We therefore will be providing all students in grades 5 with one additional period of mathematics each week. Students in grade 6 will receive one additional period of mathematics and one additional period of science each week. Our 7th graders will receive one additional period of mathematics, one additional period of seventh grade science, and an additional, innovative, project-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) course two days per week. This hands-on course will engage students in the study and application of everything from infrastructure and energy sources to robotics.
Finally, our 8th graders will receive two additional periods of mathematics, and two additional periods of science as they take the Living Environment Regents curricula. They will be solidly prepared to take and pass the Regents assessment in both the Algebra 1 and Living Environment courses. All of these instructional adjustments take the place of World Language instruction within each of these grades. These enhancements will strengthen our program as we continue to focus on all aspects of Literacy instruction...i.e. reading, writing, and public speaking.
